Tutoring guidelines
A calm reference for how tutoring works on this platform. Sessions use Daily for video—you join from your browser, usually in a new tab—no extra app required.
Certification
Tutors need an active certification before hosting sessions.
Schedule
Sessions are created with a date, duration, and capacity.
Daily video
Video opens from the session page when it’s time to meet.
Assignments
Tutors can add assignments from each session’s page.
If you’re hosting
Certified tutors

Get certified
Complete certification for the subject(s) you want to teach, then use Create Session.

Share clear session details
Add a helpful description and resources so students know what to bring or review.

Start when it’s time
On the session page, Start Session creates the Daily room and marks the session in progress. Your browser may open the video in a new tab—allow pop-ups for this site if nothing opens.

Reuse Join Now after starting
If you close the video tab, use Join Now on the session page to return to the same Daily room (when the join window is active).

Assignments (optional)
From the session screen, open Create Assignment for follow-up work. Manage existing work from View Assignments.
If you’re attending
Students

Find a session
Browse tutoring sessions and open one that fits your schedule.

Register
Tap Register For Session so the tutor knows you’re coming (and so you can join when it’s time).

Join in the window
Join Now becomes available within about ten minutes of the scheduled start (and while the session is live). Video opens in Daily—often a new tab.

Plans change?
Use Request to Cancel on the session page so your attendance record stays accurate.
Video (Daily)
In-browserWe embed Daily’s call UI for tutoring. Microphone and camera permissions are requested by your browser when you join. Closing the tab leaves the call—you can rejoin from the session page when allowed.
Sound
Headphones reduce echo and help others hear you clearly.
Connection
Wired internet or strong Wi‑Fi keeps video stable. If you freeze, try turning off extra downloads or tabs.
New tab
If nothing happens after Join, check your popup blocker and try again.
Keep sessions smooth
- Join from a quiet spot when you can; mute when there’s background noise.
- Face a window or lamp so others can see you—especially when screensharing is involved.
- Share one screen at a time and pause notifications if they distract you.
- Summarize next steps at the end so everyone leaves with clarity.
If something goes wrong
- No video tab?Allow pop-ups, refresh the session page, tap Join again.
- No audio?Check Daily’s mic menu and your system input device.
- Room not ready?Students need the tutor to start first so the Daily room exists—wait until the join window or message your tutor.
- Still stuck?Leave and rejoin from the session page; worst case, restart the browser once.
